Ring Central - Enterprise Design Systems
Product
Design systems for web, product, brand, and eLearning
Who it's for
Internal teams and end-users of Ring Central's communications products
My role
Head of Design, collaborating with in-house team and Jared Granger
The bet
A unified editorial hub and visual system would centralize years of accumulated content—eBooks, products, posts, pages—into a cohesive thought leadership platform
Constraints
Disparate content types accumulated over years; need to support multiple product lines; editorial resource couldn't be limited to categories or articles
Outcomes
Successfully unified years of content into cohesive platform; created centralized hub for thought leadership without limits

Overview

We built a cohesive set of design systems for web, product, brand, and eLearning, and led a complete redesign of their industry-leading website and blog. Leveraging our brand identity and visual design system work, we built a powerful system to design, layout, and brand individual products and resources into a cohesive library.

Problem

Ring Central had accumulated years of content across multiple channels and product lines:

  • eBooks, products, posts, and pages were scattered without cohesive system
  • Multiple product lines each had different design approaches
  • Need to position Ring Central as thought leaders required editorial flexibility
  • Content hub had to support everything from simple blog posts to complex product documentation to eLearning materials
  • No unified approach to present all of this disparate content

Goals

  • Build an editorial resource that isn't limited to categories or articles
  • Create a dynamic visual design system that could handle any content type
  • Unify years of accumulated content into a centralized hub for thought leadership
  • Support web, product, brand, and eLearning from a single system
  • Enable Ring Central to present thought leadership without design limitations

Process

We built a cohesive set of design systems for web, product, brand, and eLearning. The key was creating a flexible foundation that could adapt to any content type while maintaining visual consistency and brand identity.

Leveraging our brand identity and visual design system work, we built a powerful system to design, layout, and brand individual products and resources into a cohesive library. Rather than creating separate systems for each use case, we built a unified system with flexible components.

Solution

Unified Design System A single design system serves web, product, brand, and eLearning needs. This eliminates the maintenance burden of multiple systems while ensuring consistency across all Ring Central touchpoints.

Editorial Hub We built a dynamic visual design system creating a centralized hub for thought leadership—unifying years of accumulated eBooks, products, posts, and pages into a system that works. The hub isn't limited to simple blog posts or articles—it can handle complex product documentation, interactive eLearning, and everything in between.

Flexible Content Types The system supports multiple content formats without feeling fragmented:

  • Blog posts and articles
  • Product documentation
  • eBooks and whitepapers
  • eLearning modules
  • Case studies and customer stories

All content types feel like they belong to the same ecosystem while serving their specific purposes.

Result

RingCentral now has a home for all content across products and services, without limits. The unified system reduced maintenance overhead, improved content discoverability, and positioned Ring Central as thought leaders in the communications space.

The design system enabled the team to publish new content quickly and consistently, whether it's a simple blog post or a complex multi-module eLearning experience.
